CHALLENGE

Cosmos is an AgTech firm that blends AI, robotics, and IoT monitoring to cultivate greenhouse and vertical farms. The client's objective was to develop a robot capable of navigating the interior aisles of these farms.

SKETCHES

Preliminary sketches were focused on form factors and component positioning. The housing design revolved around an existing mechanical platform. The primary mast would accommodate cameras and other sensors for plant monitoring.

PROTOTYPE

An alpha prototype was fabricated for internal validation purposes, including testing for proper electro-mechanical operation and fit check. The design successfully met the client's product requirements.

FINAL DESIGN

The robot is equipped with sensors and cameras, and is connected to a gateway through WIFI. The device is battery-operated and uses a Raspberry Pi to control its electronics. The completed product was designed with a bumper to safeguard it from collisions with rails. The mast includes cameras and sensors positioned at a height suitable for monitoring rows of plants within the greenhouse.
